Eyecopia 2.0 Help System
-Eyecopia's Archive Session-
This section of the help system will help you learn about the Archive Session. The Archive Session refers to the central part of the Archive page, where the information about the archive you are currently defining is displayed.
Archive Sessions
You will use the Archive Session to define an archive you want. Once you finish defining it, you will use the Create button to create the archive itself. Each archive session contains one or more event sets and all events sets in a archive session are limited by one time filter.
Apply a Time Filter to the Archive Session
Every archive session has a time filter applied to it. You can select a time filter at any time during an archive session by clicking on the time filter buttons or selecting dates from the calendar. When you choose a time filter, only events that occurred within that time period will be represented in the archive session. The default for this is the All Events time filter. In other words, all the events Eyecopia has ever recorded on your system will be added to your archive session.
Add Categories
If you do not want to limit your archive sessions by selecting categories that your events have been tagged with, just leave the default All Events event set. If you want to further refine the event sets that are included in the archive session, click on the Category buttons to the left of the Archive Session. Once you have selected the category or categories that defines a group of events you want to include, click on the Add Event Sets button to add that event set to your archive session. A description of the event set will then be displayed in the Archive Session. You can add multiple sets, but pay attention to the space that your archive is using. Learn more about archive sizing below.
Each archive session can be made up of many event sets. However, each archive session is defined by only one time filter.
Remove an Event Set
To remove an event set from your archive session, click on the
icon located
next to each set.
Save Archive
When you are sure that the archive session is defined the way you want it, both with the time filter and event set(s), you can begin the archive save process by clicking the Save Archive button. Eyecopia will then open a dialog box entitled, Save Archive. Click the link to learn how to complete the archive process.
Load Archive Settings
If you have previously created archives, you can use this feature to duplicate the settings used on earlier archive sessions. This makes it easy to archive on a routine basis. When you click on the Load Archive Settings button. A dialog will open up displaying all previous archives completed, identified by name and date, like the image to your right. Select the desired archive from the list and click the Load button. If you cannot find an archive with the settings you want, click on the Cancel button to return to the Archive page.
Archive Sizing
If you are planning on burning your archive to CD or DVD, you may want to limit the size of your archive accordinly. The archive status bar, found directly underneath the Archive Session, helps you to visualize the amount of space that your archive is consuming. You can modify the size of the status bar by choosing either the CD or DVD option from the drop-down box above the status bar.
If you have too many events for your archive media type, the bar will turn red--like the lower image on the right. To reduce archive disk space, you may want to remove some event sets or change the time filter you have applied to the archive sessions to a smaller time period.
