Eyecopia 2.0 Help System
-Events on the Monitor Page-
An Eyecopia event is what we call the video and related information that is created when Eyecopia detects motion from your camera source.
Event Inbox
When an event is created, it is delivered to your Event Inbox. The Event Inbox will display a summary of information about each event displayed in list form. When an event is selected in the Event Inbox, the event video and other information is displayed in the Event View area underneath the Event Inbox. The Event Inbox displays four columns of information:
- Camera: This identifies the name of the camera which detected motion
- Activity Start: This identifies the starting time of the motion event
- Activity Elapsed Time: This identifies the length of time the event lasted
- Categories: If an event is marked with category tag(s), the category icon will be displayed here
You can filter the list of events that are displayed in the Event Inbox by using Categories and/or Time Filters.
To select a specific event, use your mouse to click on the event within the Event Inbox. To choose more than one event, hold the CTRL key down while selecting events.
You can scroll down the list by using your mouse wheel or the scroll bar on the side.
AutoPlay Events
You may want to quickly review many events at one time. Select the Autoplay button to play events in descending order shown on the Event Inbox.
If you want to play events in reverse of the time order shown, click on the column heading labeled Activity Start.
Select All Inbox Events
Select every event that is currently displayed in the Event Inbox at once by clicking the Select All button located at the top.
Email an Event
If you would like to share a previously recorded event with someone else, just select one or more events in the Event Inbox and click the Send To button. The email form will pop up for you to fill out.
You will receive a warning if your event selections exceed 5MB. If your event selections exceed this limit, you may want to reconsider your selections to reduce the size, as larger emails may not be deliverable to some recipients.
It is only necessary to provide the email address(es) for the recipients of your message. If you want, you may also include your own custom subject and body for the email.
Erasing Events
Deleting events will conserve space on your computer. In order to prevent accidental deletion of events, Eyecopia has a two-stage deletion process. When you first delete an event, Eyecopia will move the video file and data related to that event to the Trash. When you close or minimize Eyecopia's main interface, Eyecopia will ask if you would like to permanently delete all events in the trash. Once this action is performed, an event cannot be recovered. Any of the following deletion methods will move the event to the trash:
- When you are using the Event Inbox to move from event to event, it may be easiest to use the Delete button located at the top right of the Event Inbox.
- When you are working with the events from the Event View panel, it may be easier to use the Delete button located to the right of the Video Navigation buttons.
- At anytime, you may also choose to use the Delete button on your keyboard to delete the selected event(s).
- You may also activate the auto-delete feature on the Setup page. Click here to learn more.
Restore Events from Trash
You can restore an event that has been placed in the trash if you have not chosen to permanently delete it yet. To do so, click on the View Trash button, located at the far right of the Event Inbox heading. When this button is selected, you will notice that the heading switches to the Event Trash. All events now shown in the list have been previously deleted. To restore an event from this list, select the event(s) and click on either of the Restore buttons. Then you can return to the Event Inbox view by disabling the View Trash button.
Event View
In order to view an event, select the event summary in the Event Inbox and the event will be displayed in the Event View area. You may read notes or watch event videos in this area. You may use the video navigation buttons under the video window to play the videos. There are several options for playing videos, including shortcuts and special features like full screen mode. Please read more about these features in Playing Videos in Eyecopia.
View Event Details
If you would like to find out more information about an event's statistics, such as file size, click on the View Details button next to the Event View heading.
The following information is displayed in the Event Details:

- File Size: The size of your video file is shown here. This is the space on disk that the event is occupying on your computer.
- Location: The location of the video event is listed here. You can click on the location and Eyecopia will open an Explorer window to the event location.
