Installing Cameras on Eyecopia
If you have already installed your camera onto your computer, then getting Eyecopia to recognize the camera is simple. The first time you run Eyecopia after installation, you will be walked through the following process of installing new cameras to your Eyecopia monitoring system.
Eyecopia will automatically search for any
camera device directly connected to your PC. Examples of these devices
include USB and firewire cameras, as well as video capture cards. If
Eyecopia locates this type of camera, a dialog window like the one to
the right will ask if you would like to monitor the camera with
Eyecopia. If you do not have this type of device, you can skip ahead to
step four below. Make sure that the radio button next to the option you
want is selected. Then click OK.- A new window will open and you will be directed through the Camera Setup Wizard for this camera.
- Once you complete the Camera Setup Wizard, step one and two will be repeated for any other directly connected camera device.
- Eyecopia will then display a dialog window like the one below,
asking if you have any internet cameras that you would like to monitor
with Eyecopia. If you have an internet camera, click the Yes
button. Otherwise, click No- you have completed installing your
cameras.

- If you clicked Yes, the window below will appear asking for
information needed so that Eyecopia can connect to your internet camera
device. Provide the address and the username and password of your
internet camera.
The address may be the IP address or the hostname of the camera.
If you have not assigned a username and password, just leave those fields empty. Click OK to have Eyecopia connect to the device.
- You will be directed through the Camera Setup Wizard for the internet camera.
- If you have additional internet cameras to add, select the Setup tab to go to the Setup page. Click on the Add button next to Camera Options. In the new window, select Internet and you will see the same image as above. Repeat steps five and six to set up all your internet cameras.
To add a new camera after the initial software installation, go to the Setup page and click on the Add button next to the Camera Options heading.
