Eyecopia 2.0 Help System

-How to Interact with your Eyecopia Server Website-

This guide is useful once you have successfully set up web publishing on your Eyecopia server. Your first step should be to visit your new Eyecopia Server website and familiarize yourself with its features.

  1. To access your new website, simply use a browser to go to the root location you specified when setting up the Web Publishing options.
  2. Then, add Overview.html to the address. Some examples:
    • http://localhost/cameras/Overview.html

Understanding the default website structure

If you select to use the default template, your Eyecopia Server Website will include the following pages:

  • Overview: This page (Overview.html) is used to get a quick glimpse at the live view and events from each camera connected to your Eyecopia server with active web publishing.
  • Live: This page (Live.html) contains a time-lapse view that is comprised of the latest live view and the last ten snapshots for each camera. This feature allows you to quickly check in on recent activity for a camera even if events are not being created.
  • Events: Each camera will have it's own page for listing the latest events, but all pages are derived from the Cameras.html page in the default template folder. You can switch to a camera's page by clicking on the small live view image shown in the menu on the left side of every page. From a camera's event page, you can download an event video and find out the following important information about each event:
  • Event File: The name of the event video file
  • Event Created: The time that the event was created
  • Event Duration: The length of time that was recorded for an event
  • Event Size: The size of the event video file
  • Categories: If any category tags have been assigned to this event in Eyecopia, they will appear here
  • Comments: If any comments have been made about this event in Eyecopia, they will appear here

Please note that categories and comments will be updated the next time that an event is created or if web publishing is turned off/on from the Eyecopia server.

Once you understand how to interact with the default Eyecopia Web Publishing template, you may decide you want to change some of the default settings or the look of your website. For this, you will want to read over our guide to Customize your Eyecopia Server Website.
