Eyecopia 2.0 Help System

-How to monitor your camera device with Eyecopia-

One of the primary functions of Eyecopia is to monitor your cameras and make Eyecopia events, so it is important that you understand how to do this. This guide assumes you have already added your camera devices to Eyecopia. If you have not done so and would like some assistance, please view our guide on Adding Cameras. If you have successfully added your cameras to Eyecopia, please use the process below to find out how to monitor your camera(s) to create Eyecopia events.

Monitor a camera:

Event Inbox
  1. Open Eyecopia, and go to the Monitor page.
  2. In the toolbar at the top of the interface, turn the Monitoring Override to ON.
  3. If the camera is close by, go and wave your hand or do a dance in front of your camera. If it isn't close by, send a friend to do this.
  4. Look at your Event Inbox, located in the top half of the page. You should see one or more rows of bold text appear in this area. Click on one of these rows to view a new event!
  5. You will see a still image appear in the Event View area on the bottom half of the page. You can then use the video controls underneath the still image to play the video.

The above steps show you know how to create events in Eyecopia. You may want to continue reading below to learn how to adjust certain settings so that Eyecopia only creates events when appropriate for your needs.

How to Optimize your Eyecopia Events

One of Eyecopia's main strengths is that it takes the work out of monitoring your camera system manually. Eyecopia works very well for the majority of users without any changes. Yet, in some cases, Eyecopia's default settings would provide unwanted events while other users might feel the default settings do not capture enough events. Therefore, Eyecopia provides the ability to customize settings so that events are only created when they meet your specific criteria.

Some of the many additional features and settings that affect when Eyecopia will create an event include monitor schedules, camera masks, motion detection sensitivity settings, and other specific event settings. Each of these is discussed briefly below so that you understand how they may be useful to you. Follow the links in the descriptions below to find out more detailed information on using these features.

Monitor Schedules

When your camera is set to use a monitoring schedule, Eyecopia will automatically record events only during the times specified in the schedule. Read more about creating monitoring schedules here.

Camera Masks

If there is continuous motion within the camera's view, many events may be generated. Masking is a technique that allows you to help Eyecopia decide what motion is important to record. Masking is only used in the motion detection process, and does not alter the event video in any way. A mask is applied to the camera frame to eliminate unwanted motion, such as cars driving down the street or a tree branch swaying in the wind. Read more about applying a camera mask here.

Motion Detection Sensitivity Settings

These motion detection settings are used by Eyecopia to determine what you would like to consider an Eyecopia event for each specific camera. Click on any of the motion detection settings listed below to read more about it.
