Eyecopia 2.0 Help System

-How to Share an Eyecopia Archive-

This guide will show you how to share your Eyecopia Archive with others. Archives are a group of events that you define that Eyecopia will bundle for you. You may find that you want to share an archive with friends, family or even the authorities, and this guide will help you do that.

What you need to do to share the archive:

  1. First, you need an archive to share. So, view our guide to help you create an archive.
  2. Transfer the archive to the individual with whom you are sharing. This is most commonly done by CD or DVD, or perhaps removable drive.
  3. Share this guide, or explain the steps described below to the individual so that they can view the archive.

What others need to do to view the archive:

These individuals will need to have the Eyecopia application installed on their computer. Although the Eyecopia program is a time-limited trial program, the Archive Viewer will remain fully-featured and accessible indefinitely. This is a free component of the Eyecopia product suite!

  1. Download the latest version of Eyecopia from our website and run the installation program
  2. View the archive by opening the Archive Viewer (Start Menu > All Programs > Eyecopia > Archive Viewer ) and identifying the location of the archive, usually through CD, DVD, or removable drive.
  3. If needed, read about how to use the viewer below

The Archive Viewer works just like the Monitor page in the main Eyecopia program, but without the ability to modify any of the information. For those of you viewing a shared archive who have not had experience with Eyecopia, the following brief description may be helpful.

The Event Inbox will display a summary of information about the event displayed in list form. When an event is selected in the Event Inbox, the event video and other information is displayed in the Event View area underneath the Event Inbox. The Event Inbox displays four columns of information:

  • Camera: This identifies the name of the camera which detected motion
  • Activity Start: This identifies the starting time of the motion event
  • Activity Elapsed Time: This identifies the length of time the event lasted
  • Categories: If an event is marked with category tag(s), the category icon will be displayed here

You can filter the list of events that are displayed in the Event Inbox by using Categories and/or Time Filters. You can select category buttons that represent events you would like to view. As you select category buttons, the Event Inbox will filter all events and only show those that match the categories highlighted. If you want to restrict the search to a certain period of time, you may use the Time Filters in combination with the categories.
