Eyecopia 2.0 Help System
-Eyecopia Introductory Tutorial: Part Three-
Setup outgoing mail in Eyecopia
The third step in this tutorial involves making sure Eyecopia has the right information so that it can send outgoing emails. Eyecopia can be used to send outgoing emails automatically or manually once these settings are provided. If you use an email program such as Thunderbird or Outlook, this information can be found there. It is usually located within the Email Accounts section, normally accessed through the tools or options menu.
- In Eyecopia, click on the tab to go to the Setup page. Find the General Settings and click on the Email Settings button to open the Email Settings dialog window, like the one shown on your right.
Eyecopia does try to fill in your email settings automatically, so
please look over the existing settings and see if they are what you want.
If not, you can use the drop down box next to Load settings from this
account and select a different email account. You can also enter the
information manually if Eyecopia did not detect the appropriate account.
- Let's go over the information needed, just in case. First you need to provide the name of your outgoing email server. This often looks like smtp-server.your isp.com Then, if your server requires secure password authentication, it will probably show you this in your email options menu. Check your email account to see if there is an option such as Log on using Secure Password Authentication. If so, you will need to provide that information as well. If you do need to use this feature, check the box. The username and password fields are now enabled and you can enter the username and password for your email account.
- All email needs to have a return email address in order to be delivered. Please make sure to fill in the email address you would like to have linked to email notifications in the last text field.
- Now, just click on the Test button to verify that the email settings have been correctly set. You will receive a popup notification that lets you know whether the test was successfully sent or not. If the test was successful, you will also receive an email in the account you specified. If the test was unsuccessful, please double-check the information you provided and make sure your internet connection is connected. You may want to contact your internet service provider and verify the settings you chose are appropriate.
- Click OK to return to Eyecopia's Setup page. Great, you can now send emails directly from Eyecopia!
