-Eyecopia Introductory Tutorial: Part Four-

Add a new contact in Eyecopia

The third step in this tutorial involves adding a new contact in Eyecopia. Creating contacts allows you to send automatic notifications of events to email, cellular devices, and remote computers. This page assumes you have completed the previous parts of the introductory tutorial. Complete the following steps to create a new contact.

  1. Contact ListIn Eyecopia, click the Notify tab to go to the Notify page
  2. Click on the Add button above the Contact list. A new popup window will appear and ask for the new contact's name
  3. Enter the name of a friend or perhaps your own name with a description, like Cathy@work, and click OK. The name will now be entered in the Contact List.
  4. Contact
Profile Select the new contact in the contact list. You'll notice that the Contact Profile area, shown on your right, displays that selected individual's information. This includes a name, contact image, notification permissions, and preference settings
  5. For now, just enter the email of your new contact in the Contact Profile
  6. Take a look at the Notification Schedules under the Contact Profile. You can create unique notification schedules for this contact for each camera on your Eyecopia server, or you can just create one schedule for all cameras. For now, let's just create one new schedule. Click on the Add button next to the Schedules - All cameras heading.
  7. Edit
ScheduleThe Edit Schedule dialog window will appear, where you can define when you would like this contact to be notified. Just click and drag the areas you want included. If you want to remove a time period, click and drag again. In the example on the right, we highlighted a typical work week. Once you have set your schedule, click OK to return to the Notify page. You will see the new schedule appear under the Schedules -All cameras, along with several toggle buttons.
  8. Now you can decide what types of notifications your new contact will receive. For this tutorial, let's have you turn on email notifications. To do this, select the Email toggle button. This button, like all toggle buttons in Eyecopia, is highlighted when on and light gray when off. Toggle buttons may sometimes appear dark gray when they are disabled, indicating that the feature is currently unavailable due to some other setting or occurrence.
  9. You have now created your first contact in Eyecopia, who can receive email notifications!
