Eyecopia 2.0 Help System
-Categories on the Monitor Page-
Categories are a great way of quickly identifying and searching for events within Eyecopia. They are simple to use and pretty intuitive. Categories on the Monitor page have two functions: you can use them to assign category tags to events and you can use them to search for events.
Assign Category
In Eyecopia, we refer to the process of associating categories to an event or group of events as tagging an event. To assign a category, click on the Assign button. Make sure it is highlighted. Then, select some events in the Event Inbox, then select the category button that you want to tag to the events. As confirmation, you will see the icon for the category button you selected show up in the Event View and in the summary listed in the Event Inbox. The category tag is now highlighted when these events are selected, showing that the event has been successfully tagged.
Unassign a Category
If you wish to change or remove a category assignment for a specific event(s), just highlight the event in the Event Inbox and click on the highlighted category tag that you wish to remove. As confirmation, you will see that category icon disappear from both the Event View and in the summary listed in the Event Inbox. The category tag is now gray when this event is selected, showing that the category is not applied to it.
Search Category
Once you assign a category to events, it becomes effortless to find that event at a later date. Simply click on the Search button to begin your search. Then select the category buttons that represent events you would like to view. As you select category buttons, the Event Inbox will filter all events and only show those that match the highlighted categories. If you want to restrict the search to a certain period of time, you may use the Time Filters in combination with the categories.
Special Category
The special category is, well, special. When you assign this category to an event, it places an icon in front of the event description in the Event Inbox. Using this category helps to quickly distinguish it from other events. The software will not allow deletion of this particular category.
Create Category
Now that you understand how to use categories, you will want to create your own unique categories. To do this, click on the Create Category button at the top of the category list or right click on any category in the list and select Create Menu from the popup menu. Then complete the steps below:
- Enter a name for the category
- Select an image by using the arrows or click on the
icon to browse for a custom
picture to be displayed on the new category icon - Click OK to finish the process
Edit a Category
To change the name or image of a category, right-click on the category you want to edit. Select the first option of the popup menu, Edit Category. A dialog window will appear where you can modify both of these settings.
Delete a Category
To delete a category, right-click on the category you want to remove. Select Delete from the popup menu. A dialog window will appear with two options:
- You may select to just delete the category. If you do this, any event that had this category tag will have the tag removed and may become uncategorized.
- You may alternatively select to associate all events that are tagged with the category to be deleted with a different category. Just use the drop down box and click on the new category tag for these events.
Deleting a category does not delete the events associated with that category. Please be aware that selecting the first option may cause events to become uncategorized. If you use the auto-delete feature, these events may now be deleted automatically.
