Notification Schedules

Notification schedules allow you to specify time-specific access rights to individual contacts for all notification methods and for Eyecopia Remote access. Notification schedules are not to be confused with a camera's Monitor Schedule, which defines the time when a camera actively monitors for events.

Each contact has their own notification schedules. If you select different contacts on the contact list, you can see the notification schedules that are used for each contact. In addition, each contact can have notification schedules that are used for all cameras or you can choose to create unique schedules for a specific camera. This flexibility allows you to define exactly which information from which camera of your Eyecopia server gets distributed to your contacts.

Create New Notification Schedule

To create a brand new schedule, first you need to decide if the schedule will be applied to all cameras or for the currently selected camera. Then, click the Add button next to the appropriate Schedules heading on the right side of the page. The Edit Schedule window will popup. This window will allow you to identify the time periods when notifications should take place. You will define the new schedule and then click OK to save the schedule. If you need assistance creating the schedule, please read more about editing a schedule. Once you have created a schedule, you will then see a thumbnail image of it appear under the Schedules section. You can now decide which notification actions this new schedule should conduct.

Notification Actions

Once you have defined a schedule for a user, you still need to let Eyecopia know what type of notification action(s) you want to be completed when the schedule is active. For every schedule you create, you will see three toggle buttons. The Remote button represents Eyecopia Remote access. The Email button represents email notifications, while the Cell button represents cell notifications. Use these buttons to turn on or off each of these features for each notification schedule on an individual contact basis. Remember, light gray buttons are off and highlighted buttons are on.

Delete a Notification Schedule

To permanently remove a notification schedule, click on the Delete icon in the top right corner of the schedule. The action will be completed immediately and the schedule will no longer be used.

Edit a Notification Schedule

Click on the thumbnail image of the schedule you would like to edit. The Edit Schedule window will popup. This is the same window you used to create the schedule. You can add, modify, or delete time periods to this schedule. Be sure to click OK to save your changes.

Edit the Notification Message

If you select the Email or Cell notification action, you will see a new Details link appear underneath the action button. When you click this link, a new dialog window will open. In this window, you can customize the subject and message that is used for these notifications. Remember, this custom message only applies to the selected contact and selected schedule. If you only want to customize one, but not both of the text fields, just leave the other blank and Eyecopia will continue to use the default text for that option. If you do not want to customize the text at all, just keep the checkbox next to the default option.

Example Scenario for Multiple Notification Schedules

Here is a scenario that shows why you may want multiple schedules. Let's say you are using Eyecopia to monitor your business. You may decide to create a contact for one of your employees. You decide that you want to give him constant access to your Eyecopia server through Eyecopia Remote so he can monitor various business activities throughout his day, such as customer arrivals and package delivery. You would do this using the following steps:

  1. Select the employee from the contact list.
  2. Click on the Add button next to the Schedules-All camerasheading. Click and drag over the entire schedule, so that it covers 24 hours, 7 days a week.
  3. Click OK to save the new schedule for your employee.
  4. Now the new schedule will appear under the Schedules-All cameras heading. You now need to define what type of action you want this notification schedule to complete. So, click the Remote button to turn on Eyecopia Remote access for this contact on this schedule.

Now, you also want this employee to be immediately contacted by cell phone whenever an event is detected by your external door security cameras after your business is closed. So, now you need to create a new schedule but have it only applied to specific camera(s). You would use the following steps:

  1. Select the employee from the contact list.
  2. Use the live view to select the desired camera
  3. Now, click on the Add button next to the Schedules- selected camera name heading. Edit the new schedule to include only after-business hours in your schedule.
  4. Click OK to save the new schedule for your employee.
  5. The new schedule will appear under the Schedules-selected camera name heading. You now need to define what type of action you want this notification schedule to complete. So, select the Cell button to turn on cell notifications for this contact on this schedule.
  6. If you have another camera that you want to add, use the live view to select the additional camera and repeat the process.
