Eyecopia 2.0 Help System
-Stealth Mode on the Setup Page-
This section is located underneath the Event Settings on the Setup page. Stealth mode is useful for when other individuals besides yourself may be interacting with your computer, with or without your permission. For example, if you have Eyecopia running on your computer while you are away, you may not want anyone who happens to walk by to see that Eyecopia is actively monitoring.
Stealth mode is a persistant state. Once you activate it, you must deactivate it to return to normal Eyecopia operations. Even if you turn off your computer, Eyecopia will still remain in stealth mode when you reopen the program.
What does Stealth Mode do?
In stealth mode, Eyecopia will continue to monitor and send notifications according to your defined schedules and settings. When you enter stealth mode, these additional features are activated:
- Eyecopia will not display popups or make audio alerts when events occur
- Eyecopia will not show up on your application taskbar
- The Eyecopia icon will not be displayed in the system tray
- When logging in to Windows, the Eyecopia splash screen will not be displayed
Set Stealth Password
Before you can activate stealth mode, you must specify a password. This password is required to enter and exit this mode. To specify a password, select the Set Password button. A new dialog window, like the one on your right, will appear. Please enter and confirm a password in the dialog. If you choose to do so, you may provide an email address for password notices. Then click OK. You may now activate stealth mode at your convenience.
Password Notices
If you provided your Email Settings to Eyecopia and provided an email address in the Stealth Mode Password dialog, Eyecopia will be able to send you a password notice and reminders in case you ever forget your password. We recommend that you use a web-based email address for this purpose. This would prevent unwanted individuals from accessing the password window, requesting the password reminder, and then seeing the password notice arrive in your local email program.
If you do not provide this email information, you will need to contact the Eyecopia Helpdesk to have your program reset to exit stealth mode. Please write down your password and save it in a safe place to avoid this situation
Activate Stealth Mode
Once you have defined your stealth mode password, you can activate stealth mode in either of the following ways:
- Click on the Activate button
- Type Ctrl+Alt+S (S for stealth!)
After you complete one of the actions above, the stealth mode dialog window shown to your right will appear. In this window, please enter your stealth mode password and click OK. Eyecopia will immediately go into stealth mode. You will notice the following:
- The Eyecopia interface window will fade out, and a stealth activation sound is heard (if your speakers are on)
- The Eyecopia icon will disappear from the taskbar and system tray
- If motion is detected, you will no longer receive popup notifications
- If you restart your computer, you will not see the Eyecopia splash screen
Stealth mode is a persistant state. Once you activate it, you must deactivate it to return to normal Eyecopia operations. Restarting your computer does not change this state.
Deactivate stealth mode in either of the following ways:
- Use your Eyecopia Hotkey
- Open Eyecopia from the Start Menu
Both of these options will bring up a password dialog, like the one shown to your right. Once you enter your password and click OK, you will have returned Eyecopia to normal mode.
Change your stealth password
If you ever want to change your original password, just select the Set Password button while in normal operation mode. The dialog window shown to the right will be displayed. You will need to enter your current password first, then enter your new password and confirm it. If you specified an email address information (and provided your outgoing email server information in the Email Settings), Eyecopia will send a new password notice email to that email address. Click OK to set the new password.
Forgot your stealth password?
If you forget your password when trying to activate or deactivate stealth mode and you provided an email address for password notices, search for the Eyecopia email that notified you when you first set the password. The password is included in that email. If you are not able to locate this email, you can select the Click here for a reminder link in the password dialog windows when you attempt to enter or exit stealth mode. Eyecopia will then send a new email with the password to the address you provided when you set your stealth password.
