Web Publishing
      Settings Dialog Window

Eyecopia now allows you to publish information from your Eyecopia server to the web! All you need to do is point to where to upload the information and Eyecopia will do the rest. We have even created a complete website for you- a set of html templates that will allow you to view all the available information from your Eyecopia server - you don't have to write one bit of code. When the Web Publishing feature is active, Eyecopia uploads the following information:

  • Live view images, updated at the frequency you specify during camera setup
  • Event preview images and videos, uploaded once an event is completed
  • A website template folder, which is uploaded when web publishing begins and updated as necessary, such as when new events occur

When you first decide to use web publishing, you need to provide a location to upload this information. Go to the Setup page and select the Web Publishing button under General Settings to open the Web Publishing Settings dialog window. Then, use the following steps to configure your web publishing settings.

Website Title

Provide a title for your Eyecopia server website. This title is used by the default template in the header at the top of each page of the website, as well as the html page titles.

Web Template

Select a template for use on your Eyecopia server website. The term template refers to a folder that contains a set of web documents (html, stylesheets, images, javascript, etc.) used to create your Eyecopia server website, but not the actual Eyecopia content such as event videos. Templates are stored in: My Computer\Shared Documents\Eyecopia Templates. You can select the View button to open an Explorer window to the currently selected template location. Please note the following:

  • The default template contains the Eyecopia theme website
  • If you only want to upload images and events and do not want any templates uploaded to your server, select None
  • If you plan on making some modifications to the default website design, layout, or content, we recommend that you copy and paste the default folder within the Eyecopia Templates directory and rename the new folder with your own website theme. Once you have modified the web content to fit your needs, reopen the Web Publishing Settings window to select your new template folder.

Publish Location

You'll need to identify where Eyecopia should send the information to be published. Select from these three options:

  • Do not publish my cameras:This option completely disables web publishing for all cameras
  • Publish to a local web server: If you have a local web server that you want to use, select this option and browse to or type the location where you would like Eyecopia information to be published.
  • Publish to a remote web server: If you have a remote web server that you want to use, select this option and provide the connection information needed to access your remote server and specify the root directory for the Eyecopia information to be published.

Eyecopia will create subdirectories within this location for each camera that you have chosen to publish, as well as a directory for images that are used for the overall website.

There are many free resources for local web servers and some fairly inexpensive or free options for remote web servers. Please visit our forum to learn more about web server options.

Once you have provided all of the information above, click OK to save your settings and return to Eyecopia's Setup page.
