Eyecopia Remote 2.0 Help System

-Intro Tutorial II: Customize your Eyecopia Server Connection-

The second part of this tutorial will show you how to change the alert and contact options for the new Eyecopia server you connected to in part one.

Let's get started!

  1. If you are continuing from part one of the tutorial you are already on the Setup page. If not, click on the Setup tab on the top left side of the program interface.
  2. Decide if you want the newly connected Eyecopia server to start automatically whenever you open Eyecopia Remote or if you want to manually start the connection to this server every time.
    • If you want the convenience of automatic connection, select the checkbox option, Automatically connect to this Eyecopia server. This feature is helpful for several reasons. First, when you open Eyecopia Remote, the program will try to connect to this server all by itself. Second, if the Eyecopia server gets disconnected or is turned off by the owner, Eyecopia Remote will keep checking to find out if the server is available again and reconnect you. This way, you don't have to constantly check the server status on your own.
    • If you would prefer to maintain control of when Eyecopia Remote monitors the new server, you can use the Connect or Disconnect buttons at any time.
  3. Next, we can select a sound for this server that will play whenever you receive event notifications. You can identify a unique sound alert for each Eyecopia server you connect. You can choose from several Eyecopia sounds provided or you can add your own sounds. To select a sound, use the arrows on the right side of the Sound Toggle. If you select None there will be no sound alerts for new event notifications from this server.
    • As an example, use the toggle to find the sound named Doorbell. Then, click the Play button to see if you like the sound, and verify that your audio settings are correct.
    • If you would prefer your own custom sound, click on the button. Eyecopia Remote will open a new window for you to locate the sound file on your computer. The file must be in the .wav format. This is the most common file type for sounds.
  4. Now, let's go to the Contact page and make sure your contact information is correct. Do this by clicking on the Contact tab on the left middle side of the program interface. You should see your contact name and various information and settings displayed on a white form on this page. If you do not see this, you may not be connected to the server, or your connection may still be trying to collect this information. If your page looks similar to the one on the right, continue. Otherwise, check your connection settings or wait a little bit to see if the information is displayed.
  5. View the information displayed. For now, we are just going to walk you through an example of how to modify or add an email address to your contact information. If your email address is filled in the text field, make sure it is accurate. If you want to make changes, or if the field is empty and you want to add an email address, do so now.
  6. Then, select the radio button for the type of attachment you would like to receive for event notifications and use the slider to set a limit for the size of emails, if you need to limit it.
  7. Finally, be sure to select the Apply button to save these changes and have Eyecopia Remote share them with your newly connected Eyecopia server.
  8. You have successfully customized your new Eyecopia server, so now we can move on to the next tutorial!
