Eyecopia Remote 2.0 Help System
-Eyecopia Remote Setup Page-
Server Options
Click directly on the image to explore that part of Eyecopia Remote!
Once you have added an Eyecopia server, by using the Add button in the toolbar or during initial install, you may setup the options for that server using the upper part of the Setup page. Make sure you have the server you want selected using the Server Selector feature also located in the toolbar. The selected server name will be displayed at the top of the Setup page, such as the Example server in the image on your right. Now you can change your connection and sound alert options for the selected server.
Manual Connection Options
You can manually connect or disconnect to the selected server using the connect and disconnect buttons. If you are attempting to connect manually, be sure to check the Server Status to make sure it successfully completes the action. The disconnect button will shut down the connection to the selected server, and will also make sure the Automatically connect option, is unchecked so the connection remains shut down.
Automatic Connection Option
You can set the selected server to always connect automatically by selecting the checkbox option, Automatically connect to this Eyecopia server. This feature is helpful for several reasons. First, when you open Eyecopia Remote, the program will try to connect to this server all by itself. Second, if the Eyecopia server gets disconnected or is turned off, Eyecopia Remote will keep checking to find out if the server is available again and reconnect you. This way, you don't have to constantly check the server status on your own.
Sound Options
You can identify a custom sound alert for each Eyecopia server. You can choose from several Eyecopia sounds provided or you can add your own sounds. To select a sound, use the arrows on the right side of the Sound Selector. If you select None there will be no sound alerts for new notifications from this server.
- To manually play the selected sound, click on the Play button.
- To add a new sound, select the
button. The program will open a
new window for you to locate the sound file on your computer. The file
must be in the .wav format. This is the most commonly used file type
for sounds. - You may remove any sound you have added if you no longer want it
on your Sound Selector list. Just click on the
icon and select
OK in the popup window. You can not remove the default Eyecopia
sounds, so the
icon
will be disabled for these sounds.
Server Status
The lower half of the Setup page displays the status of the selected server. To change to a different server, use the Server Selector located in the toolbar. There are several messages that can be displayed here. The icon next to the message changes color to indicate the general status of the selected server. The various icons and the messages that they represent are shown and described below.
- Successfully connected to Selected Server.: The server accepted your username and password, and you can now receive notifications and possibly view the cameras live (depending on your permissions).
- Searching for Selected Server...: Trying to turn a server name into an IP address.
- Connecting to Selected Server...: The server was found and now it is verifying your username and password.
- Disconnected from Selected Server.: The server has not been connected or was disconnected successfully. You may click Connect to try to connect to the server.
- Eyecopia server Selected Server has been shut down.: The administrator of the Eyecopia server shut down Eyecopia. You may be able to reconnect later.
- The administrator of Selected Server forced you to disconnect.: The administrator of the Eyecopia server deliberately disconnected you from Eyecopia. You may be able to reconnect later.
- Could not connect to Eyecopia on Selected Server. Ensure you can connect to the internet before retrying.: Eyecopia Remote was unable to figure out how to connect to the Eyecopia server you entered. Try opening a web browser and see if you can connect successfully.
- Could not connect to Eyecopia on Selected Server. Please double-check the name of the Eyecopia server.: Eyecopia Remote was unable to find the server. This could be caused by mis-typing the server name. It is also possible that the server was turned off, so you may be able connect successfully later.
- Could not connect to Eyecopia on Selected Server. The Eyecopia server may be firewalled or shut down.: Eyecopia Remote was able to talk to the server, but it rejected the connection. Most of the time this is because Eyecopia is not running on the server. If you continue to get this error, the server is not configured properly, and you should inform your Eyecopia administrator of the problem.
Clean Slate
This feature of Eyecopia Remote provides an alternate color scheme for
our users. The Clean Slate look displays a sleek, subtle background
while allowing you to incorporate your preferred highlighting color. An
example screenshot is shown on your right. Check the box next to Use
the Clean Slate color scheme and select a color from the dropdown box
to try it out!
